World Cup Furore!
Hmmm...4-1? That didn't go so well, did it? The Empress' support for our boys could be seen in newspapers as far afield as the Philadelphia Enquirer and Das Bild, or seen on Sky Sports, CBS, BBC and ITN, but it didn't stop the team from being dramatically outclassed by an impressive German outfit.
Still, we're not ones to moan. Obviously that was a goal, though. Obviously.
That said, Monday morning saw us getting out the magnolia and painting over our Meisterwerk...to replace it with another one! Just because we can't have the World Cup doesn't mean no-one can! The Empress is still a great place to get behind Ghana, shout for Spain, back Brazil and jolly the Germans along, and we've decorated it to show our support for the game.
There might be some mention of how that was obviously a goal, too, but let's not dwell on it. Spitfire £2.50 a pint! Unless you're a Uruguayan linesman, that is...
